Peaceful Sanctuary in the Heart of Durham!
I'm an independent scholar and academic editor, and I'm looking for someone kind to keep my house cozy while I visit family overseas. Rent is $2500/month, but if you’re willing to cat sit, I offer a $300/month discount.
The house comes fully furnished, including a kitchen with almost all the gadgets and tools you could desire (except a coffee maker—but there is a French press and grinder) and the best couch for naps!
-
Two bedrooms:
-
Queen bed (en suite full bathroom)
-
Full bed (full bathroom, adjacent).
-
-
Living room
-
Dining room
-
Kitchen with gas stove, microwave, toaster oven, standing mixer
-
Office, with additional monitor and ergonomic desk chair
-
Screened-in porch (plus hammock) to enjoy the large backyard shaded by mature trees
-
Ceiling fans in bedrooms, living room, and screened in porch
-
Original hardwood floors; tile in bathrooms and kitchen (plus a robot vacuum!)
-
Includes all linens and a washer/dryer.
-
Rent includes utilities (gas, electric, water, high speed internet)
-
Driveway parking for 1 additional vehicle (possibly 2) + street parking
-
You are welcome to garden if you want to. There’s one part-shade raised bed and one full-sun bed I won't be planting (because I'll be away), but there are garden tools in the crawl space that you are welcome to use.

You may have noticed those cute kitties in the gallery-- that's Maggie (calico) and George (black). They are delightful: Maggie is shy and will hide under the couch for the first few days, and George will immediately let you know that he is starving. They are excellent roommates and co-workers.

The house is in a great location! It's one mile (or less) to downtown Durham (and all the delicious places to eat and things to do), the Durham farmers market, the Y with a swimming pool, the lovely new main branch of the public library, and at least two craft breweries.
-
City bus stop at the end of the street
-
Easy drive to NCCU, Duke, and UNC campuses
-
Easy access to Durham Freeway and I85
-
Close to two city recreation centers (Campus Hills: 2.8 mi; Edison Johnson: 3.4mi)
